Bringing the past back to life
Old photographs can bring an enriching dimension to a biographical narrative. Above is an example of how I used digital technology to restore an old photograph. Restoring photographs using this method, together with the use of motion tracking, and the fact that the images, instead of being opaque, are "lit" from behind by the phosphors of a video screen, produces a startling immediacy, as if the people in the photographs were somehow present.
The story teller may wish to talk about their photographs during the actual filming process. Including their genealogy provides a powerful and dramatic context with which to begin their individual story.
